  After having two unsuccessful sinus surgeries done by doctor Jeremy Woodham at St. Paul's hospital I decided to change my ENT surgeon. Doctor Manarey was highly recommended. I have had polyp disease due to allergies for several years. My first surgery was performed by doctor Woodham approximately 18 years ago but my polyp issues came back a few years later which led to my second surgery by doctor Woodham, after the second surgery I found out that doctor Woodham had forgotten to correct my deviated septum and did not properly deal with my polyp disease. Post surgery doctor Woodham suggested that I would rinse my sinuses with salt water and a few drops of JAVEX!. I could not believe that this man wanted me to put Javex in my sinuses!! I decided to go to doctor Manarey for my third sinus surgery. During my first meeting with him he assured me that he would do whatever he could to correct the issues I was having. unfortunately the wait list to have my surgery was over 14 months. I decided to have the surgery done at the False Creek Health Centre and doctor Manarey performed the surgery. The surgery went extremely well. I visited doctor Manarey a week after the surgery when he removed the spacers and a small piece of packing ( doctor Woodham still performs an outdated procedure by packing excessive amount of packing in the sinus cavities which is very uncomfortable). Doctor Manarey removed the spacers, cleaned the sinus cavities and saw me every week for the next four weeks post surgery to ensure that my sinus surgery was successful and I was looked after. He has put me on a regular maintenance program so my polyp disease would not come back. I have been very happy and very impressed with doctor Manarey's conduct, the way he explained the procedure, taking time listening to my issues and explaining what he did during the surgery. During my first visit after the surgery he also informed me that doctor Woodham, for some reason, removed the Turbinate superior and middle from my sinus cavaties. He could not come up with any explanation on why doctor Woodham would remove these from my sinus cavities. The Turbnates are responsible for the sense of smell. As a result of doctor Woodham's action to remove them, I have lost up to 40% of my sense of smell permanently. I highly recommend doctor Manaery, he is competent, caring and very professional. I wish I had met him before I let doctor Woodham dealing with my sinus problems.
